MC Muah Opens Up About the “Sumpa” That Haunts His Birthday: “Hindi Ako Nagse-celebrate”

Kapamilya comedian MC Muah revealed the heartbreaking reason why he refuses to celebrate his birthday every year.
In the latest episode of “Toni Talks” aired last Sunday, August 3, MC emotionally shared how a series of unfortunate events have haunted him every time he tried to celebrate his special day.
“Sixteen [years old] ako no’n. Sabi ko sa papa ko, gusto kong mag-celebrate ng birthday na ipapakilala ko ‘yong mga kaibigan ko, na kung sino ako,” ani MC.
He recalled how his father, despite initial hesitation, agreed to join the celebration. That night was supposed to be memorable—but it turned into a tragedy. After the gathering, his father suffered a stroke, and doctors gave him only two days to live.

“Parang nagkaroon ako ng trauma simula noon. Kasi November 3 birthday ko, so usually, sa sementeryo ako nagse-celebrate,” MC admitted.
His trauma deepened when similar incidents happened in the years that followed:

The next year, he was convinced by his mother to try celebrating again with a swimming party—only for his maternal grandfather to suffer a serious attack that left him bedridden.

On another attempt, he scheduled his birthday celebration on a weekend, but his paternal grandmother was rushed to the hospital. When she was deemed stable and he pushed through with the party, she passed away right after they ate.
“‘Yong lola ko, sabi pa stable na. So sabi ng mama ko, ‘ituloy mo na.’ Pagkatapos naming kumain, biglang namatay,” he painfully recalled.
Because of these traumatic experiences, MC admitted he has completely avoided birthday parties.
“Hanggang ngayon ‘di ako nagse-celebrate. Puwede siguro ‘yong kakain lang kami sa labas, pero ‘yong may party, invitation, wala talaga,” he added.
His close friend and fellow comedian Lassy Marquez also confirmed this, stating that MC never celebrates his birthday.
